Saying yes to your true self – your Brave Yes – can be scary and rewarding at the same time. My guest this week, Shawn Fink, helps women define their Brave Yes and move toward embracing their authentic selves.
During our discussion, Shawn and I talk about how difficult it can be to step into our brave yes, the steps necessary to do so, and how fear can get in our way.
Shawn’s Brave Yes
A few years ago, Shawn decided she wanted to significantly change her business model. She didn’t want to keep the membership community going that she had worked hard to build. While working to pivot to her new business model, she also tried to keep the community going. It was impossible to do both. As she describes during our conversation, she got to the top of the wall and was ready to drop the backpack over the wall. At that moment, she could see both what she was leaving behind and what was ahead. Behind was comfort and stability. Ahead was the unknown but the possibility of greater success and alignment with who she is and what she wants to be known for.
For many this would be a challenging decision. But Shawn was ready for it. Today she helps other women scale the wall and confidently drop the backpack over. Several years ago, I was given this advice: you are best equipped to help those you are a few steps ahead of. Shawn’s story reminded me of this and why she is now successful helping others step into their Brave Yes – she has done it herself. There is empathy in the work she does.
