‘What ifs’ have been popping up around me a lot more frequently this month. Normally this would be my Favorites File episode but I found my thoughts circling around questions and unknowns instead.
So many ‘what ifs’ lead to more and more questions and potential changes in direction. If one thing is certain during 2020, everything we thought was ‘normal’ is subject to change. So with this episode, I share a few of the professional questions I’m pondering right now.

When we change the context of ‘what if’ to ‘even if’, we change the emotion tied to it from fear to faith.
A website refresh
For the last two weeks, I’ve been working on getting a website refresh done. This turned into a bigger project than it would have been if I’d just hired someone to do it for me. But the learning and experience was worth it in the end. And what if I hadn’t learned how to do this all myself? There are a lot of ways this question could be answered – all of which are dependent on the perspective and the context in which the question is presented.
And since you are on the site now… check out the home page. It is the refreshed page.
Professional development
In addition to learning about web sites and Word Press, I’ve also take a few online courses over the last couple of months. One was on pitching yourself to be a guest on podcasts. This course prompted me to spend time seeking out guest opportunities, not only for me to be on shows but to find guests for this show. And I found several. If you are interested in learning more, check out the five-day Facebook challenge that Interview Connections offers every few weeks. It is worth the time.
Then this week I’ve been doing the Stand Up and Stand Out Online with Sage Lavine. With everything in-person moving online, I thought this would be a good learning experience for me. I have been pleasantly surprised by this training. There is a lot of great information and it is pushing me to think more seriously about the prospect of creating a private Facebook group for this podcast. Stay tuned. In the meantime, if you are interested in the course, check out the Women Rocking Business Sisterhood on Facebook.
Mindset is everything
Several months ago, a coach I know told me she thought I had some mindset blocks to attend to. I’ve wondered about this ever since she mentioned it. And then after a couple of more recent conversations – one with an upcoming podcast guest, Lindsay Bryan-Podvin, and the other with Dr. Susan Bernstein, decided to start some self-discovery.
This work started with reading “You are a Badass at Making Money.” Wow, if you don’t want to confront money demons, don’t read this book. It pushes you to think about how you were raised to think about money, how you think about it now, and how you talk about it. It is worth the read.
